DIY: Apple Cider Vinegar Facial Toner

In my never-ending quest for healthy-looking skin, I've made more than a few mistakes. I've used harsh acne products, rubbing alcohol, toothpaste (yes, toothpaste), and countless other "remedies" on my poor face in hopes to vanish blemishes. These usually leave my face burning, dry, and full of redness, which isn't really much better than the pimple that was there in the first place. Now, I've been managing my acne/oily skin for the last year or so with a routine that has seemed to work better than any other in the past, but I really want to start developing an all-natural approach.
Which is where this toner comes in. I always thought toner was just a fancy word for colored water, but not this concoction. This toner evens skin tone, helps fight acne and scarring, and leaves your face feeling totally moisturized. How, do you ask? Apple cider vinegar helps bring back skins natural acidity that cleansing strips, and bacteria-fighting properties. I had always heard of the benefits of apple cider vinegar, but now I am a believer. You want to make sure that your vinegar is organic, unfiltered, and has the word "mother" somewhere on the bottle. The "mother" part refers to the weird-ish strands floating around in the bottle; the ones that contain the healthy bacteria. This stuff can be used as a flea treatment for animals, a weight-loss supplement, will make a killer salad dressing, and so much more. Honestly, do yourself a favor and invest in a bottle of your own.
This toner is so easy to make, too. Simply mix two parts filtered-water to one part apple cider vinegar. You can add more water to the solution if you have sensitive skin, and add more vinegar to the mix over time as your face gets used to it.Use your toner right after washing your face with whatever product you usually use; just dip a cotton ball into it and wipe it on your face, avoiding the eyes and lips. The smell may take a few times to get used to, but its so worth it! Once the toner drys completely, you can go about your normal skin care/makeup routine. And, that's it! I hope you're as happy with the results as I've been; the results I've seen so far are praise-worthy. Please feel free to share your natural skin-care secrets with me below!

  1. I really need to try this. I've actually cut toner out of my routine and have seen no change in my skin since which means it was a totally useless product - this sounds like it may actually do some good though!
