Now Show Me Something Pretty

I shook off the dirt of my sleepy town to head back to one of my favorite places on Earth, The Cleveland Art Museum. My friend, Laura, accompanied me on the trip, where we ate some really good food and went to some really good places; i.e. local shops galore and a vegan frozen yogurt joint. Revisiting my old loves in Cleveland really gets me smiling over the fact that I could be back there this time next year. I'm certainly ready to retire my rural-town lifestyle for something a bit more fast-paced.
Until next time,

Jejune Stars

Andy and I were lucky enough to get another round of fireworks at this year's Blueberry Festival, along with some fattening/delish fried food. I'm talking fried veggies, blueberry doughnuts, and Oreos; just don't tell Jillian Michaels, okay? This was my first festival in quite a while, and I've got to say that I have definitely been missing out. Not that it was anything super thrilling, but I will say there is something to watching fireworks in the grass, seeing all the lights from the rides and booths, and walking about with the person you love. It makes me wish Summer would stick around. Well, for just a bit anyways.
Until next time,
Heather

Outfit: Let Them Eat Cake

No, really, let them! IT'S MY BIRTHDAY. Don't let the caps fool you, I'm not really that thrilled. Twenty is kind of a boring age to be, folks. But, I am excited for the festivities set up for the occasion. I'll be going to Summerfest with a dear friend to see Cold War Kids, Ra Ra Riot, Matt and Kim, and a ton of others. Plus, a dinner-date with my mother and Nanny. Oh, and I'm also happy about cake. You know, because it's cake. Happy Friday, y'all.
Until next time,
Heather

Twenty Before Twenty-One

Keeping with this week's birthday theme, I decided to make a "goal" list for my twentieth year; which was an idea adapted from A Beautiful Mess. I've never really been one for having resolutions or anything of the sort, but I figured why not challenge myself to see new places or change a few bad habits. I mean, isn't a birthday like another "New Year's" day? These twenty things are just to keep me busy, inspired, and motivated. And, while I may not completely follow through with them all, I think its important to at least have them in mind. I'm pretty stoked to see what I can do with this year.
1. Read at least two books a month.
2. Go on more walks.
3. Downsize.
4. Save money.
5. Swim in a new body of water.
6. Stress less.
7. Start writing again.
8. Do a photo-challenge
9. Volunteer.
10. Compliment a stranger.
11.Visit another state.
12. Make plans for school.
13. Re-decorate room.
14. More DIY.
15. Eat cleaner.
16. Have a solo dinner/movie date.
17. New blog design.
18. Scrapbook.
19. Re-learn guitar.
20. Grow something.
With love,
Heather

Pinspiration: Happy Birthday, Darling

So, today marks the start of my birthday week. Yeah, it's kind of a big deal, guys. I mean, I'm turning twenty. Okay, I'll give up the charade. I actually work on my birthday this year, and will just be going to a concert and small dinner with my family to celebrate on others days. Every year I seem to build up the occasion like it is some grand event, when in reality it's pretty much like any other day of the week. However, that doesn't stop me from swooning over all these dreamy party schemes, sugary treats, and fancy dresses. Pinterest is a dreamer's dream, really.

This Place

If you're ever feeling really crappy and stupid over life, I suggest you go look at something pretty for a bit. It's been a very roller-coasty (real word?) couple of weeks, full of some meltdowns and decisions. But, I'm feeling alright again. I started my new, second job and I actually kind of enjoy it already. I've set a plan in motion to get back into school locally by Winter, and hopefully return to my beloved Cleveland by this time next year. So, yeah, there's that.
Speaking of Cleveland, that's where I'm heading soon. My friend, Laura, and I will be spending the day at the art museum and anywhere else the day takes us. You'll see all of our adventures on here, of course.
Until next time,
Heather

Style Icon: Margot Tenenbaum

Margot Tenenbaum
I love anything by Wes Anderson, but The Royal Tenenbaums takes the cake when it comes to choosing a favorite. What's not to love about a group of ex-child prodigy siblings? Between her two brothers, business savvy Chaz and tennis star Richie, is Margot Tenenbaum; an extremely talented playwright and adopted daughter of the Tenenbaum family. We see Margot in the film as a struggling artist in a loveless marriage, hiding her smoking habit, many affairs, and love of her (sort of) brother, Richie. She is secretive, cynical, and simply chic. Her style in the film embodies a very mature elegance, with a touch of girlish whimsy. I mean, does it really get any better than that?
                                                                  Until next time,

Summer Daze, Summer Nights

Summer is very quickly coming to an end, and I'm trying to take full advantage of warm weather and cooking out while I can. So, Andy and I really got our fill with a late-anniversary celebration on the front lawn. We made veggie burgers, grilled veggies, and homemade strawberry-lemonade fizz, and used up all of our discounted Fourth of July sparklers and poppers. It was all very sweet. And, while I'll miss nights like these, I have to say that I am giddy with joy over all of the Fall festivities that are heading our way. Halloween, pumpkin carving, apple picking; the works! I live for this season.
Until next time,
Heather
